Red South African Lismore Syrah

Red South African Lismore Syrah 2017 wine
Domaine Marcel Deiss, a prestigious producer in Alsace, is highly esteemed due to the innovative methods and dedication of winemaker Jean Michel Deiss, the grandson of the estate’s founder. The Deiss family has been crafting wine in the picturesque Bergheim village since 1744. Today, Jean Michel combines traditional artisanal winemaking techniques with cutting-edge approaches in the vineyard.
Some of his unconventional practices include replanting his Grand Cru vineyards with field blends and incorporating forgotten Alsatian grape varieties not typically allowed by Alsace appellation rules. The Grasberg Premier Cru, showcasing the estate’s most calcareous and minerally terroirs, is home to Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Gewurztraminer grapes. This distinct terroir yields an exquisitely elegant wine with aromatic hints of white flowers, lemon zest, dried herbs, and spices.
With vibrant acidity, a well-defined structure, and intense fruit flavors, this wine will mature and improve over the next decade when cellared. It also pairs beautifully with dishes like smoked salmon, aged cheeses, and fresh seafood.

Red South African De Toren Private Cellar Fusion V 2020 wine
It is suggested to let it breathe for an hour. Situated in the scenic Polkadraai Hills of Stellenbosch, with breathtaking views overlooking False Bay, De Toren Private Cellars was founded by Mr and Mrs den Dulk who relocated to the region in 1991 after leaving Johannesburg. The vineyards benefit from the cooling influence of sea breezes.
Viticulturist Ernest Manuel practices sustainable farming methods across the estate and takes a comprehensive approach to maintain the health of the vineyard soils. Winemaker Albie Koch upholds a straightforward winemaking philosophy centered on gentle and minimal handling, avoiding the use of mechanical pumps. In 2018, Daniel Mueller, Cedric Schweri, Albie Koch, and Cape Estate acquired majority ownership.
The flagship wine of De Toren Private Cellar, Fusion V, was first produced in 1999 from a Bordeaux blend. Its aromatic profile showcases rich notes of ripe red and black berries, particularly blackberry and cherry, accompanied by nuances of dark chocolate, cedar wood, and a touch of black pepper. The wine’s palate is concentrated, dense, and intricate with velvety tannins and a well-defined structure.
Its harmonious balance and unique texture make it an ideal companion for robust meat dishes like lamb chops and grilled pork, as well as aged cheeses.
