The grapes used for their wines, such as Tempranillo, Graciano, and Mazuelo, are sourced from vineyards in Villalba and Torremontalbo, known for their low yields. These vineyards have around 40-year-old vines planted in clay soils with pebbles and low organic matter. The grapes are handpicked, fermented at controlled temperatures, and then aged for 24 months in new French and American oak barrels.
CVNE Imperial Gran Reserva is a sophisticated and intricate wine with a brilliant garnet red color. Its aroma is rich and expansive, featuring hints of berries, licorice, balsamic, tobacco, coffee, and cloves. The taste is refined and well-balanced, with a deep structure and a pleasing acidity.

Their Vina Real winery in Rioja Alavesa is renowned for its fruity style with a solid structure, allowing their wines to age gracefully for many years. The grapes for their esteemed Vina Real Gran Reserva come from vineyards in San Gines and Castejones, along with additional grapes from Laguardia and Elceco. These vineyards are located at high altitudes with a mix of calcareous and sandy soils, perfect for the Tempranillo grape.
After fermentation in temperature-controlled tanks with wild yeasts, the wine is aged in new oak barrels for two years. In the glass, you’ll discover a captivating mix of mocha, leather, and cigar box spice, along with intense crushed cassis, dark plum, and abundant dark cherries. The wine has a solid structure with velvety tannins, medium body, and a hint of refreshing acidity in the long finish.
This robust wine pairs well with hearty red meat dishes or can be aged for a few more years if desired.
